Vintage 1960s Cape Joseph Magnin Black Large Hood Full length Velvet Maxi
Amazing Vintage 1960s black cape with hood by Joseph Magnin. The cape is very heavy and great for those back on the east coast. The cape has slits for your arms to go through. The cape has a large hood fully lined.
There are long ties at the neck. There are ties at the neck and metal snaps at the collar and long ties. Three large same fabric covered buttons. The top button is missing and I may replace with a jet button or leave “as is”. I will do my best..
The cape is fully lined. The material and fabric label is not present. I believe the shell is cotton or cotton blend. Feels like velvet and quite heavy.
Joseph Magnin was the son of I. Magnin founder Mary Ann Magnin. His three brothers became part of the I. Magnin organization, but Joseph formed his own store that became one of his family’s chief competitors in the San Francisco market.
The store was very upscale, carrying the best and most stylish women’s labels. The store went into bankruptcy in 1984.
